The Elizabeth, completed in 2000, is named after
Elizabeth Macarthur, wife of John Macarthur. The
Elizabeth incorporates the north facade of the
former boiler house of CSR (c1935-1955). This facade
is red brick with art deco detailing.
The original heritage facade was retained by award
winning architectural firm Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke
who created 44 apartments, with just four per floor,
each with private New York style lifts opening directly
into each apartment.
THE ELIZABETH
“ Being an adaptive re-use of a fairly
unique industrial building meant
coming up with unique solutions.
Doing the cost benefit analysis
was enlightening and finding that
purchasers were quite receptive to the
design innovations was vindicating
and satisfying. ”
