Cooking for a Cause with OzHarvest  The One Sydney Harbour Project’s Community Day in 2023 was dedicated to supporting OzHarvest’s Cooking for a Cause Program, aligning with their mission to ‘Nourish Our Country’ through food rescue and relief efforts. This initiative empowers teams with valuable zero-waste cooking skills, enabling the creation of nutritious meals for distribution to charity agencies that feed people in need, minimising food waste and curbing hunger in Australia. These delicious meals align with OzHarvest’s zero waste philosophy where perfectly good food that would otherwise go to landfill is the hero. Over 30 One Sydney Harbour team members participated and collected food donations for OzHarvest’s Waterloo Market which opened in 2020 in response to the rising need for food relief across Sydney. To ensure there is enough food for everyone, customers are asked to respect the “take what you need, give if you can” philosophy, whilst being guided by OzHarvest volunteers. There is a limited number of items per customer to ensure food is fairly distributed throughout the community.
