CHANGING PLACES
Mr C J McCaffery provided horsedrawn transport
from the ships to the CSR and throughout the
metropolitan area. McCaffery horses were famous
and won prizes at the Royal Easter Show. The Stables
was once the central section of McCafferys horse
stables and motor garage and the steel frames
adjoining the building indicate the former stable
wings since demolished. The building’s original 1920s
detailing has remained intact with exposed ironbark
columns, steel framed windows, Oregon roof trusses
and coloured brickwork.
